Under the Microscope: ZapInfo is Elated to become Part of the Indeed Family

ZapInfo announced ecstatically that “Indeed, the world’s #1 job site signed an agreement to acquire the assets of ZapInfo.” In their PR Release, ZapInfo remarked “joining Indeed allows ZapInfo to continue to provide value to clients, allowing them to take advantage of many of Indeed’s products, such as Indeed Resume, along with the ability to Zap Indeed applicants quickly into most integrated ATS and CRM’s.”

The acquisition has changed ZapInfo’s payment model as they transfer from a paid subscription service to a free resource that nearly all leading ATS/CRM users can leverage to automate their recruiting process between their ATS/CRM and Indeed’s product suite. ZapInfo concludes their short acquisition announcement with, “We look forward to the innovations that we believe the world’s #1 job site will bring to the recruitment automation tools created by ZapInfo.”

HR Tech Feed commented on the Indeed to Acquire Zapinfo news, “It’s somewhat of a surprising acquisition given that ZapInfo is not a job board which is the usual target of a company like indeed. It could signal a move into acquiring other types of recruiting tools.”

Lucy Zuo, Senior Analyst at TTL, responds to HR Tech Feed’s remark of the acquisition signaling a move into acquiring other types of recruiting tools:

“While ZapInfo is not Indeed’s ‘typical target,’ the acquisition makes sense because it is mutually beneficial. Indeed exclusively leverages ZapInfo’s (now free) accelerated recruiting features which will undoubtedly attract more users, and ZapInfo simultaneously gains access to Indeed’s robust candidate database to offer enriched profiles to their clients.”

Ltd. and is co-headquartered in Austin, Texas and Stamford, Connecticut with additional offices around the world. As a single-topic search engine, it is also an example of vertical search. In October 2010, Indeed.com passed Monster.com to become the highest-traffic job website in the United States. The site aggregates job listings from thousands of websites, including job boards, staffing firms, associations, and company career pages. They generate revenue by selling premium job posting and resume features to employers and companies hiring.
