Workmarket On Verge of Acquiring OnForce

WorkMarket is acquiring OnForce, according to multiple sources close to the on-demand IT talent platform companies. Some chatter speculates that Accenture is driving the WorkMarket-OnForce business combination. Accenture and Foundry Group invested $25 million into WorkMarket in April 2017. The Accenture and Foundry funding was an add-on to WorkMarket’s $20 million Series C round raised in 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported at the time. Workmarket and OnForce both run freelance IT management platforms, so this acquisition may be an attempt to corner that segment of the talent acquisition market.

Werk Raises $2.85M to Help Women with Children Find Jobs

Werk, a job board startup for women with young children, has raised $2.85 million in seed funding, announced this week. Rethink Impact, a $112 million female-run venture fund, led the round, with female-focused investors Halogen Ventures and SoGal Ventures also participating. Werk’s core product is a job board, which has been active since February. Companies pay to post open positions, and job-seekers pay an annual fee of $48 to gain access to the marketplace. Each job must be flexible in one or more ways—fluid working hours, for example, or the ability to leave the office on short notice. It must also be eligible for promotion, in order to ensure that women are taking on roles that have advancement potential.

Persionio Raises $12M to Provide End-to-End HR Solution

Personio, a German startup that offers a HR management and recruiting platform, has closed $12 million in Series A funding. European VC Northzone led the round, with participation from existing investors, such as Rocket Internet’s Global Founders Capital (GFC) and Picus Capital. The Munich-based company plans to use the funding to further develop its Software-as-a-Service and become a leader in the HR software space for small and medium-sized (SME) companies. Concrete examples of areas covered by Personio include: a full applicant tracking system, with support for multi-posting to over 100 job boards (e.g. Stepstone, Indeed, LinkedIn, etc); a digital employee file; document and contract management; on/off-boarding; attendance tracking; absence management; salary management & payroll; and performance management and feedback.

Barcelona-Based CornerJob Raises $3M

CornerJob, a Barcelona, Spain-based digital recruitment platform, raised $3m in funding. Innogest, an Italian venture capital firm, made this latest investment, which follows a $19m funding announced in May 2017 and takes total investment in the business to over $57m. Innogest joined a team of international investors including Mediaset Italia, Groupe TF1, RTL, Northzone, Randstad Innovation Fund, e.ventures, Samaipata Ventures, Caixa Capital Risc, Sabadell Venture Capital, Mediaset España, 5M Ventures, Media Digital Ventures, Augesco Ventures and TV Azteca. The company intends to use the funds to expand its leadership position in digital recruitment in all the countries where it operates (Italy, France, Spain and Mexico).
