ShiftGig Raises $20M

Shiftgig, an on-demand labor marketplace, raised another $20 million in Series C financing. Shiftgig plans to use the investment to accelerate sales and marketing operations and drive product innovation.

The funding round brings the company’s total capital raised to $56 million and supports its aggressive growth strategy, according to the company. New and existing investors include DRW Venture Capital, FJ Labs, GGV Capital, KDWC Ventures and an affiliate of William Blair.

Yes Bank recently introduced a game based evaluation round in addition to group discussions and interviews during the hiring process at premium B-schools across India, utilizing modern technology to better connect with Millennials and gain massive amounts of data about each candidate while doing so. Through its points mechanic, candidates not only receive a rating, but also immediate feedback that may inform them something new about themselves. The platform also has a clear time setting, list of past results, and total number of data points collected from the candidate, helping the recruiter learn up to 150x more than traditional assessment tests.

The app, which has been secured by Nine Twenty as a “white-labelled” product from Scottish technology entrepreneur Mike Hughes, is aimed at revolutionising the world of recruitment, especially for businesses with small numbers of staff.

The app, conceived, developed and applied by Mr Hughes’s business, Hiire (correct) in Glasgow, has already been adopted by more than 50 employers, predominantly in the hospitality industry in Scotland and has established a database of more than 1000 candidates.
