A new startup called Scale officially launches today. The company wants to simplify the outsourcing processes for tasks that require people, not algorithms, to handle. This could include anything from appointment scheduling to more complicated matters like content moderation, transcriptions, and more.

A new partnership was announced today between ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN) and the Chicago-based Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII), a UI LABS Collaboration. The partnership pairs top U.S. manufacturing firms, research universities and technical colleges that are part of DMDII with ManpowerGroup, the world’s leading innovative workforce solutions provider. By identifying the skills needed for 20 roles on the leading-edge of manufacturing and design, the effort will help align workers, employers and educators to ensure the U.S. workforce is prepared to drive the growth of advanced manufacturing.

HR Management & Recruiting Platform Personio Raises €2.1M

Personio, a Munich, Germany-based provider of an HR management and recruiting platform for small and medium-sized businesses, raised €2.1m in seed funding. Backers included Global Founders Capital, Picus Capital, the Stylight Founders and other individual business angels. The company intends to use the funds to increase development and support capacities that can further enhance features and customer service, and hire first sales agents.

HireHand, a London, UK-based on-demand staffing platform for small businesses, raised funding from members of Wild Blue Cohort, a business angel investor network. The company will use the funds to expand operations. Led by founder and CEO Scott Erwin, HireHand provides an internet-based service to matche small businesses in need of shift-based support at short notice with a talented pool of assessed individuals.

Under the new partnership, cut-e will exclusively distribute these games in the USA. The two companies will also work together to develop a new breed of gamified assessments for pre-application attraction and candidate selection.

CornerJob bags $25M Series B to scale its blue collar jobs app via more TV ads

CornerJob only closed its $10 million Series A in February. But the Barcelona-based jobs marketplace, one of several which focuses on low-skill, high-turnover recruitment via a smartphone messaging app, is now announcing a $25 million Series B funding round — meaning it’s already raised a total of $35M in less than a year. The Series B is divided into two components: $20M led by VC firm Northzone, with the participation of e.ventures, plus earlier investors in CornerJob. Then an additional $5M which is a media for equity agreement investment specifically aimed at growing the platform in Mexico.

FirstJob’s new chatbot Mya utilizes AI to learn more about candidates and match them with potential employers. Mya helps both candidates and recruiters by automating up to 75% of the recruitment process. By reducing the amount of time Recruiter’s have to spend looking over thousands of applications and resumes, they can put more effort into conducting interviews and making hires. For candidates chatting with Mya, their conversations are logged and followed up on. Mya sends them updates, offers guidance to candidates, and alerts them if the job has been filled.
