Talent Tech Labs Releases Key Pain Points for Talent Acquisition Leaders

Talent Tech Labs, the only incubator and coworking space hyper-focused on technological development in talent acquisition, recently hosted over 80 talent technology leaders in an exclusive innovation day entitled Disruptive Innovation in Talent Acquisition held at Rise New York (43 W. 23rd St., New York, NY 10010).

The day included engaging keynote presentations, and debuted innovations of six frontrunning startups before an invitation-only audience of talent acquisition executives.

“Supporting talent tech innovation and growth means getting involved. At TTL, our programs connect mentors and emerging innovators, HR leaders and new companies, investors and opportunities. The potential for learning and growth is limitless, but involvement is critical” said Talent Tech Labs Executive Director Jonathan Kestenbaum on TTL’s dynamic engagement strategy.

Over the course of the day, trends began to emerge as startup founders, investors and practitioners discussed the state of talent acquisition and its associated market perceptions.

“More than ever, talent leaders who effectively implement innovative solutions are being recognized for those efforts. Seen as emerging thought leaders, they have earned the opportunity to affect change in their organizations, especially in companies where talent is deemed a strategic imperative,” explained Brian Delle Donne, President at Talent Tech Labs.

Delle Donne cited several leaders who identified to employer branding and candidate perception as crucial to their talent acquisition strategies. According to Delle Donne, every speaker highlighted technologies they are using in their organizations today which are “game-changing for them.”

The innovation day is another way Talent Tech Labs aim to bring the creators of these game-changing technologies together with talent acquisition leaders who use the technologies every day to make their jobs simpler or more efficient.

Key Takeaways from Talent Tech Labs Technology Innovation Day:

  • Applicant Tracking Systems are still a problem point for many talent acquisition leaders. Over 67% in attendance cited it as a “pain point” that ultimately needs to be resolved.
  • Today’s talent acquisition leaders consider candidates “their clients” and are keen to show metrics around candidate experience (the process whereby one measures how candidates apply for and interview for a new job).
  • Advanced technology in recruitment is no longer a “nice-to-have,” it was cited by every leader present as “a critical enabler” in their daily work routines.
  • Talent acquisition leaders are now focused on working with “vendor-partners” who will work with them to build solutions to integrate with their current “tech stack.” Integration is critical to long-term success.

Key leaders from CA Technologies, IPG Mediabrands, Razorfish, Fanduel and more presented at the event. Brad Cook of Informatica shared his use case for finding “vendor-partners” within the talent acquisition technology landscape.

“Go through the demo scripting to comply with your use cases and environment. Every time a salesperson strays and goes back into sales chatter, you must have them adhere to your scripts. If they show up prepared to do that; it’s an indicator that in the real world, their solution can work for you as expected,” Cook explained.

“These kinds of interactive events where leading innovators in talent acquisition technology can demonstrate incredible new tech in front of practitioners and critical review will certainly advance the state of the art in talent acquisition,” said Kestenbaum.
